I see the big picture and the pieces that create it, I recognize issues and opportunities across scales and disciplines, and identify the supporting details and the steps to get to solutions.

Building on my training as an architect and urban designer, I have more than 25 years of experience working at the intersection of design and public policy, conceiving major civic projects and initiatives, bringing together stakeholders, and providing expertise to help realize complex proposals.

Most recently I was the Founding Executive Director of the Great River Passage Conservancy, leading the strategic development of the 17 miles of Mississippi River in Saint Paul.

Previously, I was the Executive Director of the Minneapolis Parks Foundation, where I transformed the organization to focus on a new mission, creating the Next Generation of Parks™ and launching RiverFirst projects along 5 ½ miles of the Mississippi River in Minneapolis.

I was also Founder and Principal of the consultancy Groundwork: The Foundation for City Building, where one of many projects included leading Wayzata’s  Panoway on Wayzata Bay, the transformation of the city’s Lake Minnetonka shoreline and the creation of the private fundraising entity for the park.
